The Squier Telecaster that beat out American Fenders.
No kidding, we did a shootout at Guitar Center and this thing ($170) was more comfortable than the $1200 models, and sounded just as good to my ears. I’m rather picky about the feel of the guitars I play. I would have bought it on the spot had my favorite GC employee been there. He wasn’t, so I went back the next day to buy it. I also picked up a Vox Satchurator used for $80 (down from $125), which is one of the only distortion pedals I’ve ever liked.
Codename: Sackwheat.

Thus Sackwheat was born.
I play a Squier Tele as well but am often disappointed at how quick it goes out of tune, even with heavier strings. Did you do any mods to this? I’ve been thinking about putting new tuners on mine (maybe Grovers?) but I don’t know….
Yours looks really sweet!
Glad you like it! I’m really impressed with the quality for the money.
As for tuning, mine seems to hold tuning fairly well with newer strings. You may want to put some graphite in the nut slots to see if that does anything before spending the money on tuners. I haven’t done any mods yet because I don’t often play electric while away at school. Eventually all the electronics will be replaced, and possibly new tuners and nut. New tuners (especially on cheaper instruments) are never a bad idea really. It’s also nice because you can test different parts without fear of messing up the instrument – I’d be a lot more gung-ho about putting new tuners on a Squier than a $3000 Gibson or the like.
Hope everything works out for you. Have fun playing!
